Introducing ESP32 development boards list
Find out about the new feature on ESPBoards, providing the list of all ESP32 boards with technical specification, pinout
The ESP32 microcontroller was released in 2016 by Espressif Systems. The ESP32 features a dual-core processor, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and a bunch of peripherals. With these features and its low cost, the ESP32 is a great choice for the IoT devices.
Microcontroller vs Development Board #
A microcontroller alone, such as ESP32, is a small computer on a single chip. But it is just an itegrated circuit and does not provide anything else. However to program your ESP32 microcontroller, you need a programmer, such as USB-to-serial converter, FTDI or JTAG programmer, which the microcontroller itself does not provide.
To save the time needed to connect the programmer with microcontroller, add voltage converterts, etc., nowadays there are plenty of companies that does it for you and provides a completed printed circuit board (PCB). The development board typically includes a microcontroller, toghether with additional hardware components, that make it easier to start prototyping and developing projects. Also, it often provides additional features and capabilities, beyond the base microcontroller.
Curently there are more that 180 officialy released development boards on the market and the number is always growing. With such amount of development boards, it is often frustrating when you need to find information about the board, as you always need to look for different website in different places.
All ESP32 development boards in one place #
We are excited to announce a new feature on our website, where you will be able to find a list of all officially released ESP32 development boards. We hope this list will help you choose the right board for you project and find the information about the development board you are looking for.
You can find the list by clicking "ESP32 Boards" link in the top menu or clicking on this link ESP32 Boards. This will take you to a page that lists all the available boards.

On the dedicated page of selected development board, you will find information such as:
- A picture of the board
- The name of the board
- The microcontroller used as a base
- Pinout (Pin mapping)
- Memory size
- The connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- And more!
What's next? #
Constantly update the list with new boards
- We will keep this list updated with new boards and also we hope to receive feedback, if you notice any issues with the updating boards.
ESP8266 boards
- Introduce a similar list for ESP8266 based development boards
More details in one place
- We will put more technical details and other information about the microcontrollers itself. You will be able to find information about architectures used, bootloader and flash types, etc. all in one place!
Allow users to contribute by sending pictures
- Unfortunatelly we do not have all of the boards ourselves, therefore we cannot take photos of each one of them. Also, due to copyright rules and other licenses, we cannot use photos of others. We hope that our users will contribute and send us pictures that will help everyone looking for information about ESP boards to see it more visually. We will soon introduce the on-web image uploader, but if you have a picture to share, we encourage you to do it already by sending it to us by email at info@espboards.dev. Thank you!
Add pictures with visual pinout diagram, where you could see the board design and its pins placement
- We understand that visual pinout diagrams are easier to navigate, therefore we will introduce the pinout diagrams with board layour and numbering for all the boards in the list.
Rate boards and write feedback
- Have you tried the board? Share your feedback with others. We wil introduce a functionality to rate the boards and also leave a feedback to help others decide easier when choosing their ESP board.
Compare boards
- We will introduce a page, where you will be able to select what specifications you need, according to your project, and it will automatically offer you the board that suits your project best.
We hope this list of boards will help you find the relevant information apbout the board you need all in one place, without needing to use the search engines. You can jump straight into https://www.espboards.dev/esp32/, look for your board and start developing your next project right away!
If you have any feedback, want to contribute, or you have an idea what you want to see on these pages, please let us know.
